In Quidditch, catching the Golden Snitch earns a team 150 points and usually brings the match to an end. Now you can build your own version of this legendary object, complete with delicate wooden wings and a clever spring-powered mechanism that makes it flutter as if trying to escape.
Pull the string on top of the Snitch to wind its internal drum, then release it to set the wings in motion. Hold the model in your hand and watch it flutter, or hold the pull ring above it and see the Snitch flap upwards towards your hand. Its silent ratchet mechanism and pendulum-controlled spring tension help regulate the movement of the wings.
When the chase is over, display your Golden Snitch on its sleek stand or suspend it in the air using the eyelet on the pull string. The model is made from art-quality composite wood, with a 3 mm body and stand and delicate 1.5 mm wings. A spare wing is included for added peace of mind.
This model also pays tribute to the Snitch’s special place in Harry Potter’s story. Fans will recognise the connection to Harry’s first Quidditch match and the mysterious Golden Snitch later entrusted to him by Albus Dumbledore, containing the Resurrection Stone.
